Father’s Day Good Eats

WELCOME Magazine discovers local restaurants doing #FathersDay right. Featured: Salt & Iron · Bar Dojo · Della Terra · Double DD Meats. Pre-order now before it's too late.

Treat dad to a special meal this Father’s Day!

Salt & Iron, Bar Dojo, San Kai, and THE MAR•KET | fishmonger

Executive Chef Shubert Ho runs four of the most popular, most inventive restaurants in Edmonds. They’re all doing something special for Father’s Day.

Edmonds restauranteur/executive chef Shubert Ho’s four foodie fiefdoms (Salt & Iron, Bar Dojo, San Kai, and THE MARKET | fishmonger & eatery, celebrating its two-year anniversary this weekend) present lots of options to choose from: gift cards — digital or in-store, as well as menu specials for those opting to dine in, or out.

Father’s Day Weekend coincides “with the street closure in downtown Edmonds for pedestrian traffic and sidewalk dining,” Ho says. Mayor Mike Nelson recently announced Edmonds’ first street closures, a pilot program, on Main Street, between 3rd and 6th Ave., to take place June 20, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and June 21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Nelson encourages restaurants and stores to take advantage of the official start of summer, and take their business outside, which dovetails nicely with COVID’s social distancing.

Salt and Iron, in partnership with Stoup Brewing and Javelina BBQ

Salt and Iron, in partnership with Stoup Brewing and Javelina BBQ, will cook up the “Ultimate Father’s Day BBQ, Beer & Burgers Weekend,” available for online pre-orders starting June 14 2020. Stoup Beer Braut, Beef Brontosaurus Rib, St. Louis Pork Ribs, and more.

For me, Father’s Day is a day in which I get to enjoy the fruits of fatherhood, where my kids bring me treats and show me the love I’ve given them, which consequently was given to me by my father, and my father’s father, etc.,” Ho says. “It’s also a day in which I remember those ‘Father Figures’ in my life that have led me to where I am today.

Bar Dojo

Bar Dojo Chef Luis Brambila whips up three spectacular catches for Father’s Day’s “Ocean’s Bounty.”
Crawfish seafood boil, Bar Dojo style!

Bar Dojo serves up the “Ocean’s Bounty” for Father’s Day, with three mouth-watering dishes: a crawfish seafood boil, a dozen oysters from Taylor Shellfish, and smoked, Thai peanut-rubbed pork chop. Preorders kick off June 15.

“For me, Father’s Day is a really special day, just like Mother’s Day!” Bar Dojo Chef Luis Brambila says. “I grew up with the love of both of them, and they are both special to me. Now that I’m a dad of three beautiful daughters, I feel so loved by them every single day. So, it makes my paternal bonds feel really special.”

Della Terra

New Dad, Cody Castiglia of Della Terra, is offering delicious farm-to-table Father’s Day pre-orders.

Featuring Hearty Pacific Northwest Entrees, Farm Fresh Salads, Seasonal Sides, Homemade Pies & More!

Double DD Meats

There’s no meat shortage at Double DD Meats, open Mon.-Sat., 9 a.m.-6 p.m. for “both in-store service and phone pre-orders,” says Kim Nygard. “Pre-orders are appreciated and curbside pick-up is available for those that pre-order.” The beloved mom ‘n pop butcher shop on 5602 232nd SW Mountlake Terrace has been in business since 1955, offering all kinds of meats in all kinds of cuts, along with bottled hot sauce, BBQ sauce, retro sodas, and so much more.
